Tortoise, Eleventh Dream Day そして Pullman のメンバーとしても活動してきた Douglas McCombs が1995年にソロ・プロジェクトとしてスタートさせ、その後は様々なメンバーが参加しつつ、アルバムを数枚リリースしてきた Brokeback が久々に帰ってまいりました！ 前作 Looks at the Bird が、2003年のリリースだったので丁度10年ぶりになるんですね。その前作は凄くいいアルバムだったと記憶していますが、今回はそんときの雰囲気とはまた違う印象。新作アルバム Brokeback and the Black Rock は、Pete Croke (Tight Phantomz, Head of Skulls!, Reds and Blue), Chris Hansen (Pinebender, Head of Skulls!), そして James Elkington (the Zincs, the Horse’s Ha) と制作した作品で、先行曲 “The Wire, the Rag and the Payoff” は、サイケ、ブルージーな雰囲気のインスト・トラックです。アルバムのリリースは、Thrill Jockey から1/22 です。
